Sixteen squares have arrived already and they’re so gorgeous, you all! Can you see the robe coming to life already!?
As of February 11th, 83 weavers have committed to this project. Each one of them is contributing to this robe without any expectation of being compensated. This is remarkable; it shows the purity of our weavers’ intentions and commitment to our identity and cultural heritage. That said, the project organizers are working on establishing a fund balance that would pay for all shipping expenses (of donated weaving materials to all the weavers), printing costs (for weaving templates and a book to document this project), a weaving instructor stipend (to finish the robe’s woven borders), as well as small honorariums for all weaving contributors.
